What to do on a Saturday?
Go on an adventure of course!
I heard about the old hospital site in Port Hedland that had been re-coloured by street artists; of course I had to check it out.
Accompanied by a friend, we made a spur of the moment decision and went during the day in 40 degree heat. Under prepared for touring an abandon building, I did not wear enclosed shoes nor bring a bottle of water. (Note for next time: be better prepared).
Besides the artists, it was noticed that others who had passed through did nothing more than trashed the place.
When I got home I was feeling really dehydrated and prepared a fruit meal to snack on. I rarely do a purely fruit meals but I totally needed it. Smoothie recipe will be posted tomorrow. 🙂
The hospital was shut down in November 2010 after 35 years of service as the regional hospital, medical services were relocated to newer facilities in the South Hedland Health Campus. Below are some photos I took.

The last one is my favourite!
